Meet our Principal and Assistant Principal
Jasibi Crews-West
Principal

Jasibi Crews-West joined Cora Kelly School for Math, Science and Technology as principal in 2017. Prior to that, Ms. Crews-West had been the assistant principal at John Adams Elementary School. She was also a member of the bilingual Spanish-English team and taught at Mount Vernon Community School from 2005-2015 while it transitioned to become a full dual language program. She began her teaching career in the Los Angeles Unified School District.

In 2001, Ms. Crews-West graduated from California State University Long Beach with a degree in education with a concentration in bilingual education K-12. She earned a Master of Science from Pepperdine University in 2005. In addition to being trained in bilingual literacy best practices, she also has International Baccalaureate training and is a GLAD certified trainer. Ms. Crews-West is a member of the National Association for Bilingual Education, a member of the Dual Language Advisory Committee, and has been nominated for The Washington Post’s Agnes Meyer Teacher of the Year Award. Ms. Crews-West is a recipient of the Northern Virginia PTA award in 2018 for Principal Partner. Preferred Pronouns: She/Her/Hers.

Kellie M. Johnson, MEd
Assistant Principal

Kellie Johnson joined Cora Kelly School for Math, Science and Technology as the assistant principal in 2022. Previously, Ms. Johnson served as the administrative designee of specialized instruction for all four campuses of Alexandria City High School and lead teacher for the King Street campus. She also served as a special education teacher, department chair and principal of an alternative school program.

Ms. Johnson received her bachelor’s in special education from Hood College. She obtained a master’s in education - administration and supervision from the University of Phoenix. Preferred Pronouns: She/Her/Hers.
